Nicki Minaj Presented with Platinum Plaque from Birdman

While in New Orleans for a recent performance, Nicki Minaj received an RIAA platinum plaque from Cash Money CEO Birdman. The award is for Nicki's achievement with her latest album "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" which was certified platinum after shipments of one million copies.
The award was given to Nicki a bit prematurely, as the album is actually 400,000 copies away from officially being a platinum selling LP. Retailers who stock albums only do so when they believe the record will sell convincingly after the shipments have been made.
What do you think of Nicki receiving her second platinum plaque?

Riaa only gives them for shipments...always has and always will. I am pretty sure nicki has done more than 600 anyway but most albums never soundscan what plaques they have. Joe Budden and Cassidy and Jim Jones and even Nas shipped gold. Juelz never sold platinum. Game has not had a platinum selling album since 05. I am not even sure if Jadakiss or chamillionaire had platinum albums if you mean "sales". Riaa invented gold and silver certifications. Technically nicki did sell whatever the stores bought anyway. Also we all know that with the technology that more than a million people really have the album anyway.

the shipments mean alot, that's wat really counts. individual over the counter sales dont really matter, the store already bought the album, now its time for the store to make its money back. good job nicki, you've done good!

Why hand a platinum plaque for less units sold? Unless if its a plaque for worldwide sales ...do shipments warrant a plaque or do actual sales? What's the criteria these days?
