The movie theater shooting in Colorado is as puzzling as it is tragic. James Holmes, a seemingly normal 24-year-old graduate student, walked into a movie theater on Friday and opened fire, killing 12 people and injuring dozens more.
A few people came forward and offered their opinions on Holmes. Jackie Mitchell, a 45-year-old Aurora man, met Holmes earlier in the day on Friday at a bar and drank a couple of brews together. "I was like, man, I know that dude!" said Mitchell. "The young man came off as smart and carried himself with a swagger."
Another neighbor, Rachel Reed, recalled spotting Holmes loitering on his front porch with a backpack quite often. She also ran into him a few months ago at a place called the Zephyr. Reed put a Lil Wayne song on, and Holmes wasn't happy about it. "He came over and made some racially charged comments about rap," she said.
One of the spookiest aspects of this story is the picture police took after he was taken into custody. Staring distantly, you can detect a slight smile on his face. Check it out above.
