The Knicks 2012-2013 season is already looking tainted. With the decision of whether or not to match the Rocket's offer to Lin looming, Carmelo Anthony had something to say about the situation. "It's not up to me. It's up to the organization to say that they want to match that ridiculous contract."
Uh oh. It doesn't seem as if Melo is taking a shot at Jeremy, but rather the nature of the contract itself. The Rockets' offer sheet includes a poison pill year worth $14.9 million at the end of the contract, something the Knicks would like to avoid. That poison pill year would put them well over the salary cap, effectively weighing them down with a huge luxury tax that year.
So, if Lin doesn't return, will Melo be satisfied with Kidd and Felton as his point guards? When asked, Melo's answer didn't seem encouraging.
"I mean, what other point guards are we going to get at this point?"
