Aubrey Davis, who goes by the name DJ Mixx in the music industry, has filed a lawsuit against singer Usher. The suit claims that in 2008 Davis created the original beat for Usher's 2009 single "Hey Daddy".
DJ Mixx contends that he created the instrumental which was initially called "Let's Go". After Usher received the beat from a mutual contact, the title was allegedly changed to "Hey Daddy" and was ultimately featured on his "Raymond vs. Raymond" LP. Usher copyrighted the beat and Davis is now suing him for damages.
The track became Usher's 3rd straight top 5 R&B single when it debuted at #2 on the charts back in December 2009.
