50 Cent's newly released mixtape "5 (Murder by Numbers)" was supposed to be an album, but at the last moment 50 and Interscope had other plans. They decided to release the 10-song mixtape, and instead drop an album later in the year. The tape was received with mixed reactions, and reviewed somewhat positively by NBC.
NBC claimed "it contains two of the best songs he's made in years, and eight songs that remind us why the Queens rapper, though wildly successful, is looked to as largely a non-entity within the hip hop landscape these days."
They are quick to point out that despite the two songs on the mixtape, the rest ends up as throwaway tracks. Hopefully 50 can channel some of that energy he had on "Get Rich, Or Die Tryin'" into his new album "Street King Immortal," which drops in November.
