Warriors Coach Mark Jackson & Family Target of Extortion

On Thursday, head coach of the Golden State Warriors Mark Jackson stated that he and his family were the victims of an attempted extortion plot. The matter is in regards to an extramarital affair dating back to six years ago.

According to the Smoking Gun, a stripper by the name of Alexis Adams claimed that she had compromising photos of Jackson and wanted money in exchange for not leaking them.

Based on online records filed with the U.S. District Court in Oakland, Adams worked with an alleged accomplice, Marcus Shaw, who was also named in the complaints.

Back in April, the Warriors were in Memphis to play the Grizzlies. Jackson says a man demanded "a substantial sum of money" and if it was not handed over, he would sell "personal information".

Jackson, who stated that he "regrettably" paid the man, reportedly forked over $5,000 and says the entire situation is "a terrible lapse in judgment and a course of action I would not recommend to anyone."

Several court documents show communication via email and text between the two extortionists that describe the scheme they had planned out.

Mark Jackson issued a statement about this situation.

"I recognize the extremely poor judgment that I used both in having an affair six years ago -- including the embarrassing communication I exhibited during that time -- and in attempting to deal with the extortion scheme at first by myself. I made some egregious errors. I apologize for any embarrassment I may have caused my family, friends and, of course, the Warriors. At that time in my life, I was not pastoring. Three years ago, my wife and I established a ministry. With deepest regret, I want to apologize to my Church Family. I was wrong. We must live Holy."
