The-Dream was the one who produced Pusha T's controversial Exodus 23:1 track, that has since been interpreted as a diss track aimed at Drake, Lil Wayne, and the entire YMCMB team. However The-Dream stated to MTV News that he was personally shocked that Lil Wayne and YMCMB took Exodus 23:1 in such a negative way. In his eyes the song was in no way about YMCMB and he didn't see why they would take offense to it.
However, Pusha T nor The-Dream's opinions matter, for Lil Wayne quickly responded with a diss track of his own, aimed directly at Pusha, Goulish. The-Dream he told MTV News that Pusha T would be wise to respond to Lil Wayne's diss record by simply ignoring him and continuing to make quality music.
"The only way that we can respond is make great records, and nobody is gonna beat me at that. I had actually no idea that anybody would jump out the window thinking that personally ... it was about them," he said. "It kinda took me and the clique by surprise. My grandfather told me, 'If you're talking to somebody, you speak to them or you just walk up to them and slap them.' I think beef is so '96. It's like, what's the point?"
