Part one of Lupe Fiasco's two-part album Food & Liquor 2 is set to release on September 26th, with part two being released shortly after that. Lupe has stated that he really wanted to show off his own talents on part one of his album. He doesn't have any features on it aside from a few people being brought in to sing the hooks of some of his songs, but that's about it.
"It's Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Part I. Part I, which 'Freedom Ain't Free' is the single off of, is coming in the next few months. It really ain't got no features on there. It got a few people on the hooks and stuff like that, but no other real features other than myself. But that's part one. It's a double album. We're probably 80 percent finished with part 2, which is going to come out a little later. It's not finalized. You don't know who's going to be on it... Part 1 is done and there ain't gonna be any features on there, but part 2, it maybe somebody coming at the last inning to drop a verse. We'll see."
In a day and age where many albums are gauged based on who's being featured on it, you have to give Lupe his credit. It's not easy to do a full out solo act nowadays, but Lupe has the guts to try, and with his lyrical ability, Food & Liquor 2 should be hot regardless of if he doesn't have any artists featured on it.
