Larry Bird Named NBA Executive of The Year

The NBA announced today that Larry Bird was named the league's Executive of the Year, scoring 88 points and receiving 12 first-place votes from a panel of his fellow team executives throughout the NBA.

That's just the latest award for the Hall-of-Famer, as he also has an MVP and Coach of the Year award, making him just the first person in NBA history to have all three honors in his overall NBA career, and the third, along with Pat Riley and Frank Layden to have both the Coach of the Year and Executive of the Year honors.

"This is an honor for the Indiana Pacers, not an award for Larry Bird," he said in a press conference. "Everyone in this franchise put in a lot of work and showed a lot of patience as we have tried to get this team to a level on and off the court the fans in Indiana can be proud of."

As the President of Basketball Operations for the Pacers, Bird watched over a Pacers team that clinched the No.3 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, finishing with a 42-24 record, fifth-best in the league.
