Investigators in Houston are compiling evidence to determine what killed a six-month-old infant who was found in a refrigerator in an apartment.
The Houston Chronicle reported that the baby's name is Joseph Elijah Mouton and he was found wearing clothing and wrapped in a blanket.
On Wednesday night, police stated that they received a call from a man who sounded suicidal over the phone.
Here are some exerpts from the KPRC report:
"Officers said the man refused to let them into his apartment when they arrived. A neighbor saw what was going on and panicked because she knew a baby was inside.
"I got a hold of maintenance and they ended up kicking the door in," neighbor Evette Williams said. "Found the guy laying on the floor and no baby."
Police said it was obvious that a child lived there.
"There were some items that were indicative that a child was living there at some point," Sgt. Ora Chandler said.
Detectives ended up finding a baby boy, about 6 months old, inside the refrigerator. He was wrapped in a blanket and wearing clothing."
The medical examiner has not released the autopsy as of yet but it has been reported that the baby may have been in the fridge for at least a day. The father was being held under supervision.
The family was in mourning outside of their home in the images.
