Junior Seau's Brain to be Donated for Research

Many people believe that the recent and tragic death of former NFL veteran Junior Seau could have been linked to possible concussions he may have suffered as a result from such vicious tackles and hits.

The NFL has long studied the health conditions of NFL players after they retire to see how their body functions after years of physical wear and tear. And to further help in that cause, the Seau family has agreed to donate his brain to further the research of concussions, etc.

Shawn Mitchell, San Diego Chargers team captain and former teammate of Seau's, stated "The family was considering this almost from the beginning, but they didn't want to make any emotional decisions. And when they came to a joint decision that absolutely this was the best thing, it was a natural occurrence for the Seau family to go forward."

The Seau family hasn't made a decision as to what site the brain will be donated to. But they're leaning towards the Sports Legacy Institute at Boston University and the Brain Injury Research Institute.

Seau, who was a 20-year professional in the NFL, died at the ago of 43 when he took his own life earlier this week.
