Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch Passes Away at 47

One third of the legendary Beastie Boys, Adam Yauch passed away from a long battle with cancer at the age of 47. Yauch, who went by the nickname MCA, was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 after a tumor was discovered in his salivary gland.

Yauch's illness prevented the group from making any live performances, which they haven't done since 2009, the year MCA received his unfortunate diagnosis. In April when the Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Yauch was forced to sit out the awards ceremony. His cancer also caused the band's most recent album, Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2 to be delayed.

Adam Yauch was a co-founder of the legendary group along with Mike "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz. The trio formed the group in 1979 and went on to become a fan favorite worldwide.

Fellow legendary artists Chuck D and LL Cool J inducted them into the Hall of Fame.

lastylec i aint gone go in on u just go listen to that beastie boys liscense to ill album sure its some 86 shit but its timeless i was 6 when it came out the production (Rick Ruben) the chemistry between MCA (RIP) and his group is something inspirational without punk ass websites and blood sucking magazine and a devilish media this piece of music got to the bay area to a lil kid living in the SF petrero hill projects and put a smile on his face and thats wat hip hop is about.

Lesson #1: Beasties boys were the FIRST WHITE RAPPERS signed to Def Jam. Their flow was sick, better than this trash we are hearing now. To all you fellatio employees working overtime on jay-z, lil Wayne, drake and that halloween trick minaj, you need to recognize that these are true pioneers that I will still go and spend my swap to see in coliseums.
