An embarrassing sign reading "X-NG SHCOOL" in front of a New York City school was replaced on Tuesday after it was pointed out by the New York Post.

The Consolidated Edison utility revealed to the Post that the blunder came about when a contractor ripped up the street for utility work and replaced the existing markings. It says the obvious typo outside the Manhattan building that houses three schools had been there since July 2010.
