Boston Celtics All Star point guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended by the league for Sunday's incident with NBA official Marc Davis.

Rondo was extremely upset at a call the official made and was subsequently given a technical foul. That only enraged the former Kentucky Wildcat, and he went wild and bumped the referee while continuing to jeer in his ear. He was tossed from the game, and now the league has rendered its verdict to bench him for the next game in Atlanta.

The NBA rules enforce a one-game suspension for intentional contact with an official, and commissioner David Stern says that Rondo "obviously bumped" Davis. Rondo disagrees with Stern's assessment.

"I didn't intentionally chest bump him," Rondo said after Game 1. "I know the rules."

Game 2 will commence on Tuesday night back in Atlanta, and Rondo's suspension only makes things worse as the Celtics are already without one of their starters, sharp-shooter Ray Allen, who may return later in the playoffs but will need surgery in the off-season.
