During the Coachella festival which took place over the weekend, there was a special tribute to the late great Tupac Shakur in the form of a life-like hologram of the slain rapper.

The thousands of fans watching the show weren't the only ones impressed by the creation -- Tupac's mom, Afeni Shakur, was also amazed at the sight. The life-like model of her son was seen on stage with fellow West Coast legends Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg during the headlining performance.

A representative for Ms. Shakur stated that she was not present at the concert, but it's said that she watched the peformance from home, and though thrilled by the gesture, it was also bittersweet.

Dr. Dre reportedly asked Afeni for permission to use Tupac's likeness, and when she answered in the affirmative, he went on to make a donation to the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation.

Originally, West Coast rapper Nate Dogg was suppposed to receive the same type of holographic tribute, but it was scratched at the last moment. Nate received a video tribute instead, which is also a fine gesture.
