The New York Knicks are on fire right now, with Jeremy Lin putting them back on top and helping them win 5 straight games, and now former Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith announced he was joining the team.

Around 9:48 am on Friday morning Smith tweeted, "New York Knicks it is!," which sent the popular social networking site into a frenzy.

Last season Smith played for Denver, and once the lockout went into effect he made his way to China to play. No contract terms were available, but the Knicks were able to offer Smith a pro-rated share of their $2.5 million mini mid-level exception and a player option for a second year.

Do you think J.R. made the right choice with the Knicks?
