Dave Checketts, former Madison Square Garden and Knicks president, alluded to the NBA lockout being over, but quickly retracted his claim.

Checketts, who currently owns an MLS team in Salt Lake, revealed, "I've received a couple of phone calls from friends who are very close to the process that say, 'We have a deal and it's a matter of having everything straightened out.' "

During the same interview with ESPN Radio, Checketts said "I'm being told now ... perhaps they've taken a step back," he said. "It's not as close as I thought."

Both NBA and union officials denied any rumors of the lockout being over, and explain that they're still in negotiation.
