Amy Winehouse said in the days before her death that she "didn't want to die" because she had "so much more to achieve". On July 23, the singer's lifeless body was discovered by her bodyguard at her north London home.
As many suspected, alcohol was indeed the culprit behind Winehouse's death. Police found three empty bottles of vodka at the scene - two large bottles and one small one. The pathologist who conducted the post-mortem said anything over 350mg per deciliter of blood is considered fatal. Winehouse's blood had 416mg.
The singer had been clean and sober for several weeks up to the night that she consumed the fatal amount of alcohol. Her physician says she was in the habit of going long periods of not drinking, and then going on a bender.
