As he remains behind bars on two counts of first-degree murder, YNW Melly is now being considered a suspect in another fatal shooting, this time a 2017 incident that took the life of a police deputy.

Although the sheriff's office didn't confirm that both YNW Melly (and co-defendant YNW Borlten) are suspects in the 2017 unsolved case, sources say they were both at the scene of the crime, when someone within their group threw a bottle at a passing car. From there, the driver reportedly returned fire, and during the shootout deputy Gary Chambliss was killed at the scene.

Sure enough, following the Miramar, Fla. shooting of two of their associates, detectives now believe the seemingly isolated incident from 2017 could be connected.

“After that shooting in Miramar, our detectives will be following up for possible information in connection to the Garry Chambliss homicide,”  Captain Tony Consalo said in a statement “Perhaps, given their current situation, they might be able to shed some light on the case.”

Meanwhile, YNW Melly and YNW Bortlen have been ordered to remain in jail without bond.
