Coolio received three years probation and 45 days of community service with no jail time for his September LAX gun possession case.

The rapper was originally facing three years in prison for the charges which stemmed from an incident where LAX TSA discovered a gun in the book bag of someone from his entourage. Police later found that the gun was stolen and belonged to the rapper. Coolio will also have the opportunity to have his charges downgraded to a misdemeanor if he stays on his best behavior within the next year. He is not allowed to carry his firearm during that time.

Coolio’s rep initially told TMZ that the gun belonged to his security guard. “Upon arrival, airport police immediately took possession of a carry-on bag in the X-ray screening belt and detained a 39-year-old black male [the bodyguard] who claimed possession of the bag,” said an LAPD public information officer to US Weekly in September. Upon further questioning, Coolio admitted that the book bag with the gun inside belonged to him. Members of his entourage were also booked at the time.
