Last week was unprecedented for hip-hop fans as they tried to make sense of XXXTentacion's murder followed by the murder of Pittsburgh native Jimmy Wopo. While hip-hop fans mourned the loss, one Pittsburgh police officer by the name of Brian M. Martin was one of the few who celebrated the passing of the local rap star.

Martin responded to a post on social media that queried why Wopo's death hasn't sparked protest and outrage, summed up in the question, "Everyone forgot about the Wopo murder that quick?" Martin shot back, "Not me. I'm still celebrating."

After the police department caught wind of Martin's insensitive comments the department relegated the officer to desk duty as punishment. The city wrote in an official statement that they worked swiftly to hold the officer accountable and that "Comments that disparage victims and endanger the community and fellow officers will not be tolerated by the City of Pittsburgh. Such behavior is a poor reflection on the Bureau and will not be tolerated."
