It's hard to believe, but Dr. Dre's The Chronic dropped 25 years ago today. The album not only cemented Dr. Dre as a successful solo artist following his departure from N.W.A., it also introduced the world to a slew of iconic artists, including Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Lady of Rage.

The album hit Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 200 and "Let Me Ride" won a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance in 1994. Dre went triple platinum with his classic debut solo album and became one of the top ten best-selling American artists in 1993.

Many in hip-hop have praised the album, with Kanye West telling Rolling Stone, "The Chronic is still the hip-hop equivalent to Stevie Wonder’s Songs In The Key Of Life. It’s the benchmark you measure your album against if you’re serious.”
