Dr. Boyce Watkins recently posted the following message on Instagram: "The Klan could never be nearly as destructive to our people as a really creative, irresponsible, and toxic rapper."
Watkins' message caught the attention of Run the Jewels rapper Killer Mike, who shared his well thought out response on Instagram. Mike wrote, "I love @therealboycewatkins and he posted the top but, i have to retort so I posted the bottom. What do y’all think? Can we blame “stagger lee” (google that) for Jim Crow, systemic oppression in the early 1900’s or was Booker T and W.E.B beefing & not supporting Garvey our real achilles’ heel & the reason 100 years later we control less of our economy?"
Killer Mike later added, "U can hate 21 savage but when he says “I’m Efa” & acknowledges Orisha he has done more for your children than Most mainstream scholars becuz he acknowledges his “God” is Of African Origin."
