A 20-year-old Ohio man who allegedly barreled his car into a crowd of protestors over the summer leaving one woman dead has been charged with first-degree murder.

Self-professed Neo-Nazi James Alex Fields Jr. has been locked up since murdering 32-year-old Heather Heyer, a paralegal peacefully protesting the highly volatile "Unite The Right" rally in Charlottesville back in August.

While appearing in a Charlottesville court on Thursday, Fields was charged with second-degree murder, malicious wounding and felonious assault for driving his vehicle into demonstrators, killing Heyer and injuring 19 others.

Fields had reportedly traveled to the rally - organized by various white supremacist groups operating under the guise of the alt-right - to join in protesting the removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee from a park.

During a peaceful march by counter-protestors later in the day, video captured the moment a car tore through a group of demonstrators, then reversed and ran over several more.

Richard Wilson Preston, Alex Michael Ramos, and Jacob Scott Goodwin also appeared in court Thursday.

Preston, a Baltimore KKK leader, is accused of firing a gun during scuffles at the rally. Ramos and Goodwin are facing charges for the beating of protestor DeAndre Shakur Harris.
