The New Orleans Pelicans have been giving gifts to the less fortunate in their community this holiday season. The team has been partaking in a campaign known as the "Season of Giving." Anthony Davis along with DeMarcus Cousins have sponsored shopping sprees at Target for a group of children, and the basketball team threw a holiday party at the local Boys & Girls Club.

One of the most heartwarming surprises came on Wednesday (Dec. 13) when Pelicans star, Davis surprised a family from the Big Easy with gifts and the keys to a brand new car.

In an overly emotional moment shared on video that was posted by Davis and the NBA on their social media, the player is seen giving gifts from the trunk of the car to the children. He handed them some toys before looking over at mom and saying, "We can't forget you," at which point he gave her a small box with the keys to the car in them. At that moment, the woman became overwhelmed with joy and repeatedly thanked Davis between tears.

Davis wrote afterward about the video, “Amazing feeling to be able to share some blessings with Season of Giving.”

Davis and the Pelicans are just one team in the NBA that have been helping out families this holiday season, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder took children and their grandparents on a Target Shopping Spree with Sunbeam Family Services and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren.
