Nelly learned that he is in the clear on Wednesday, December 13, when it was announced that the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has dropped rape charges brought up against him, and will no longer proceed with litigation regarding the case.

According to a report published by TMZ, the prosecution has been stagnant for some time on account of the accuser's decision to back away from pursuing legal action due to what her attorney cites as fear that “the system is going to fail her.”

Within days of the woman coming forward with allegations that the St. Louis rapper forced himself upon her in his tour bus after an Auburn show, she reportedly started confessing that she felt overwhelmed by the reaction she faced from the public. Nelly's vow to “pursue every legal option to address this defaming claim” apparently also served as a source of added pressure following the alleged October assault.

Fans will recall Nelly getting detained on suspicion of rape in the second degree on October 7. After being released from the Des Moines jail that booked him, he'd face a tide of bad press fueled by the surfacing of video clips that show him playing with the hair of girls he'd invite up on stage during his performances. Both stories wound up losing credibility as reports went revealing the alleged victim's unwillingness to comply with the investigation into her claims.
