The big day has arrived for the senatorial election in Alabama and some liberals are taking an unconventional approach to making sure controversial Republican candidate Roy Moore is not elected. A liberal super PAC is urging voters in the state to write in the names of the head coaches of the University of Alabama and Auburn University football teams, which is Nick Saban and Gus Malzahn respectively.

The group, American Bridge 21st Century, released two 15-second Facebook advertisements targeting Republican voters, telling them to write in Saban and Malzahn in Tuesday's closely watched U.S. Senate special election. Democrats are hoping former U.S. attorney Doug Jones can beat Moore, who is a former judge but was removed from the bench twice. Moore has also made headlines recently as he faces multiple allegations of sexual misconduct with women when they were in their teens and he was in his 30s. He has denied the allegations. Donald Trump, who won Alabama by nearly 30 percentage points in the 2016 presidential election, has publicly endorsed Moore despite the allegations against him.

Some recent polls have shown a close race, which Jones holding a slight lead.

"Roy Moore's disgraceful actions make him unfit for public service. Alabama voters have a chance to stand up for moral values on Tuesday, and as Coach Saban says, 'Character is what you do when no one else is watching,'" American Bridge President Bradley Beychock said in a statement released Monday.

Both coaches are very well-known figures in Alabama, but neither has indicated any interest in running for public office.
