A climber and daredevil highly popular in his home country of China was killed after falling from a building while filming his last stunt.
26-year-old Wu Yongning died on Nov. 8 after dropping from a 62-story building in the city of Changsha, reports BBC News.
Yongning was somewhat of a social media celebrity in China with thousands of followers on Weibo, a site similar to Twitter enjoyed by about a third of Chinese internet users. His girlfriend confirmed his death this month after fans began speculating on his demise when his account went weeks without uploading new content.
Yongning was in the process of shooting a new video and was clinging to the side of the 62-story Huayuan International Center when he appeared to lose his grip and fall; his body was reportedly later discovered by a window cleaner.
Police described his death as an "accident" and have already ruled out foul play, saying he lost his grip and fell about 45 feet onto a terrace and died from fatal injuries suffered during or shortly after the accident.
According to Chinese media reports, Yongning was participating in a challenge to win the equivalent of $15,000 when he recorded the Weibo video.
