A Colombian family living in Canada were attacked by a baseball bat-wielding man in a parking lot, who was yelling that the family was part of Isis. While the man, who has been identified as Mark Phillips, 35, left the scene before police arrived, the son of the victim, Sergio Estepa, was able to catch footage of the suspect on his phone.
Estepa says he and his family were approached by Phillips after meeting up with their son after school. The victim says Phillips approached them in the parking lot and began yelling, “Terrorist! We got terrorists here!”
After Estepa told Phillips to stay away, Phillips swung his baseball bat and charged at Estepa's son. The father stepped in and Phillips hit him, cracking his rib and leaving him with extensive bruising on his body.
Phillips was charged with aggravated assault and three counts of assault with a weapon.
