President Trump has had a tumultuous time as the United States president since his election into office in January 2017. Among the critiques and scandals surrounding his term is the accusation that the Russian government heavily interfered with the 2016 presidential election, skewing the polls in Trumps’ favor. Many believe that since it behooved Russia to see Trump in power, Hillary Clinton’s electoral chances were intentionally diminished by Putin.

Trump has gone on record to state, "The whole Russian thing was an excuse for the Democrats losing the election, there was absolutely no collusion," he continued, "It's been stated that they have no collusion. They ought to get to the end of it because I think the American public is sick of it."

In May 2017, former FBI director and attorney, Robert Mueller, was appointed to oversee the investigation of Russia's interference in the election. Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, was reported to have agreed to keep Trump’s lawyers abreast with information pertinent to the Mueller investigation.

Now, Flynn is said to have notified Trump’s legal team that they can no longer communicate regarding Mueller’s investigation, cutting all ties between Trump's lawyers and himself. This indicates that Flynn is cooperating with Mueller’s investigation, and potentially negotiating a deal with Mueller.
