Recently, LaVar Ball took to CNN to respond to comments made by Donald Trump after Ball did not thank the president for his reported assistance in getting his son LiAngelo Ball and his UCLA teammates out of trouble in China. While on CNN, Ball ended up saying he would thank the Chinese President over Donald Trump for the release of his son.
Before Ball’s response, Trump previously tweeted “Shoplifting is a very big deal in China, as it should be (5-10 years in jail), but not to father LaVar. Should have gotten his son out during my next trip to China instead. China told them why they were released. Very ungrateful!”
Since then, Twitter users have taken to the platform to go after LaVar Ball; only they directed their comments at the wrong person— “Star Trek” actor LeVar Burton. One user tweeted CNN host Chris Cuomo and said: “I wonder what you did to piss off your producers that they made you sit through that shit-show of an interview with @levarburton.... what an arrogant a**hole!!”
Another user tweeted “You’re a has been with a thief for a son and Trump is the president of the United States. Get the picture?” Since then, LeVar Burton has responded to the confusion, tweeting “One of many sleights I am having to endure these days.”
