Long-reputed television journalist Charlie Rose became the latest public figure to answer for sexual misconduct allegations on Monday, November 20.

Word regarding Rose having had inappropriate encounters with women between the late 1990's and 2011 began to get around as soon as The Washington Post dropped an investigative piece citing eight women who've accused the veteran newsman of everything from making unwanted advances to groping. According to the Post, at least two women who were interviewed spoke of being groped, with one specifying that Rose grabbed her breast and another elaborating on how he once grabbed her thigh while they were in a car together.

In addition to cases in which Rose is alleged to have made physical contact with accusers, he is also said to have made lewd phone calls and made statements objectifying women, urinated with the bathroom open while in the company of women, and walked around his residence naked while hosting a woman guest. Without being specific, Rose, 75, did acknowledge having partaken in some of the situations that have come to surface, albeit there are also instances that he claims he doesn't recall happening.

"It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior. I am greatly embarrassed. I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate," Rose stated. "I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken.”

By Monday evening CBS, PBS, and Bloomberg all announced that they have suspended Rose pending further investigation into the charges.
