Oscar De La Hoya told TMZ that the GGG vs. Canelo rematch is currently being worked out and could be scheduled for Cinco de Mayo 2018.

The veteran boxer and promoter confirmed that there will be a rematch and that they are currently just working out all of the details. “That fight is definitely going to happen,” said De La Hoya. “If people didn’t see the first one. Wait until you see the second one. It’s going to be huge.” He also touched on the possibility of taking on Conor McGregor in a boxing match. “Speaking for myself, two rounds, that’s all I need. What I said about Conor was that look, Mayweather it took him what ten rounds? It would have taken me two rounds. All due respect to Conor, but he’s not a boxer. He’s an MMA fighter. In the cage, Connor will destroy me. In boxing. C’mon?” said De La Hoya.

The reporter also asked him about Canelo fighting McGregor in a boxing ring. De La Hoya told the outlet that they’d need to ask Canelo himself to get that answer. He seemed more focused on Canelo once again taking on GGG after their controversial first bout that ended in a draw. Fans and boxing vets like Teddy Atlas stated that GGG was the clear winner of the first fight and that the draw decision was made in order to generate more money for boxing with a rematch.
