Recently, news surfaced that actress Della Reese passed away at the age of 86. The actress, who was born in 1931, had a detailed career in film and television. She appeared in shows like “Touched By An Angel" and “Bates Motel." Reese also made appearances in movies like “Harlem Nights” featuring Redd Foxx and Eddie Murphy, “A Thin Line Between Love and Hate” alongside Martin Lawrence, and more.

Before venturing into acting, Reese began as a singer, starting out as a gospel vocalist then transitioning into jazz and pop. Reese found success as a singer as well with the release of her 1959 single “Don’t You Know?”

A statement was released on Reese’s passing via her former “Touched By An Angel” co-star, Roma Downey. The statement said “On behalf of her husband, Franklin Lett, and all her friends and family, I share with you the news that our beloved Della Reese has passed away peacefully at her California home last evening surrounded by love. She was an incredible Wife, Mother, Grandmother, friend, and Pastor, as well as an award-winning actress and singer.”

Downey went on to say “Through her life and work she touched and inspired the lives of millions of people. She was a mother to me and I had the privilege of working with her side by side for so many years on Touched By An Angel. I know heaven has a brand new angel this day. Della Reese will be forever in our hearts. Rest In Peace, sweet angel. We love you.”
