Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has come under fire after a video surfaced of him seemingly making a racially charged comment.
In a short clip, Jones can be heard telling a fan, “Jennifer, congratulations on the wedding. Now, you know he’s with a black girl tonight, don’t you?” Jones then starts laughing and walking away.
According to The Blast, who exclusively obtained the video, the fan who received the message is white. The video was shot four years ago and the unnamed fan shared the video of Jones in light of the NFL protests and current social climate
Now, Jones has apologized, saying in a statement, "That comment was inappropriate. It's not who I am, and I'm sorry."
Deion Sanders also supported Jones, telling the Dallas Morning News, "A joke that was intended to add humor at the request of a fan in a lighthearted moment was taken totally out of intent. I'm sorry we're in this state of mind as a country, but if you're looking for a racist, Jerry Jones is not that guy."
