The United States Navy issued a statement claiming responsibility for one of its pilots drawing an obscene image in the sky in Washington state on Thursday. Officials with the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island said one of their aircrafts was involved in the lewd sky drawing spotted in Okanogan County. The drawing appears to depict male genitalia.

Mulitple photos of the sky drawing made the rounds on Twitter Thursday afternoon, and several photos were sent to KREM 2 News.

While some viewers found it funny, a mother who lives in Okanogan did not. She reached out to KREM 2 to complain about the images, saying she was upset she might have to explain to her young children what the drawings were.

In a statement to KREM 2 News, Navy officials said, "The Navy holds its aircrew to the highest standards, and we find this absolutely unacceptable, of zero training value, and we are holding the crew accountable."

KREM also reached out to the Federal Aviation Administration to get some information about who may have made the drawings, but that information wasn't released. FAA officials said unless the individual(s) poses a safety risk, there is nothing they can do about the incident. The official said they "cannot police morality."
