In 2011, Snoop Dogg released the album ‘Doggumentary’ which featured the rapper going back to the sound that was responsible for his rise to fame. During the period of creating that album, Snoop made sure the document all of the studio sessions he had with producers and artists like Battlecat, DJ Pooh, DJ Quik, 1500 or Nothin, and more.

During one of the sessions, Snoop began to explain to Battlecat how he uses Dr. Dre’s “Still D.R.E.” to test the mood of the crowd. When explaining, he mentioned all of the people who came in to write verses, which included himself, D.O.C. and Jay-Z. Snoop said “I was a part of that sh*t man. I was one of those n***as in there trying to write the rap. ‘Get out of here that sh*t wack,’ D.O.C. ‘Get outta here that sh*t ain’t right.’” Snoop went on to say Jay-Z came through and wrote the verses quickly, including the lines that Snoop said on the track.
