At least five people (including two children and the suspect) have been confirmed dead after a gunman opened fire near an elementary school in California.

The first 911 call came in at 7:52a.m. earlier today. Reportedly, neighbors reported a domestic violence incident involving suspected shooter. According to NPR, a local sheriff said the shooting began at a home and involved multiple locations (including Rancho Tehama Elementary School) The suspect was reportedly shot by police.

California Senator Jim Nielson released a statement on Twitter saying: We are closely following this situation and making sure children are safe at Rancho Tehama. Thank you to first responders"
