Eminem recently dropped his latest single, "Walk on Water," which features Beyonce, and he spoke about the track and other topics with Malcolm Gladwell and Rick Rubin for their new podcast, Broken Record.

During the start of the conversation, Eminem spoke about fans always wanting something different from him, and he explained that at this point in his career "There's less places to go that you have not already been."

“When you start out in your career you have a blank canvas, so you can paint anywhere you want. Then your second album comes out and you paint a little more, but by the time you get to your seventh and eighth album there’s nowhere to paint. People are always expecting something different from you.”

Later in the conversation, Rick Rubin shared that Eminem is frustrated with the current mumble rap trend. Rubin said, “So for him, it’s a little bit of a culture shock because there’s a new wave of hip-hop that’s not really what he’s about. He was just talking to me about how that felt. I could see he was frustrated by it.”
