Mike Tyson was on his way to shoot a promo video for a local news station in Chile, but he was denied entry into the country. The admired boxer flew all the way into Chile and when he arrived, the federal authorities wouldn't let him in. The authorities claim that Tyson didn't meet the requirements for entry, due to his criminal record.

Tyson was convicted of raping a 19-year-old beauty-pageant contestant back in 1992. He served three years of a six-year sentence. Tyson has also been convicted of assault and cocaine possession.

The federal authorities made the following statement:

"Detectives from the International Police are re-boarding Mike Tyson for not complying with immigration law. Upon review of his record, and as authorized by current immigration law, all foreigners who have been convicted or prosecuted for any crime may have their entry into the country impeded."

The Chilean Police of Investigations tweeted that Interpol agents would escort Tyson to a flight back to the U.S. in the evening.

Back in 2013, Tyson was forced to scrap promotional appearances in London because he was barred from entering Britain due to the charges.

Tyson has yet to make a statement on the situation.
