Misty Spann, 26, pled guilty to incest after marrying her mother, 44-year-old Patricia Spann, and was given a 10-year suspended jail sentence. Misty was raised by her grandmother after her mother lost custody of her three children, and in 2014 they reunited.

In an affidavit, Patricia said that she and Misty "hit it off" and they were married in 2016 in Comanche County, Oklahoma. During the investigation, it was also revealed that Patricia married her son in 2008. The unnamed son annulled the marriage, citing "incest."

Five months after Patricia and Misty were married, authorities learned of the mother-daughter incestuous relationship during a child welfare investigation. Patricia, who went by "Patricia Ann Clayton" on her marriage certificate, says she wrongly thought that she and Misty could get married, as her name was no longer listed on her daughter's birth certificate.

This past October, Misty annulled her marriage to her mother, as she claims that Patricia assured her that she was given legal advice that it was not a crime for them to marry. Misty cited "illegality and fraud" as her reason for annulling the marriage.
