The Green Bay Packers made a very surprising move on Wednesday, November 8, by cutting Pro-Bowl tight-end Martellus Bennett. According to reports, Bennet was released on what is being called a "failure to disclose a medical condition designation," which could allow the Packers to reclaim roughly $4.2 million in prorated signing bonus cash. This leaves Bennett on waivers for any of the 31 other teams to pick up but if Bennett isn't snatched up by another squad he would then be a free agent with the ability to sign anywhere.

Martellus Bennett's tenure in Green Bay was short lived and didn't see the tight-end get on the field as much as NFL fans are accustomed to seeing him. After suffering a shoulder injury, Bennett announced that he was "pretty sure" this would be his last NFL season. It's unclear if this sudden release had anything to do with that comment from their [Packers] bye week.

Bennett signed with the Packers as a free agent in March for a three-year $21 million contract in addition to a $6.3 million signing bonus.
