Jeff Bezos is once again the richest man in the world. On Friday morning, with Amazon stock opened 13% higher than the day prior, resulting in $7 billion added to Bezos’ net worth. This resulted in Bezos reclaiming the number 1 spot from Bill Gates but not without help. Microsoft’s stock took a 7% dive as well, making Bill slide to the second richest man in the world. At this moment Bezos and Gates have a net worth of $93.1 billion and $90 billion respectively.

The cause of the Amazon surge was a result of Amazon reporting strong third-quarter earnings. With analysts reporting revenue of $42.1 billion, Amazon surpassed that number with $43.7 billion in revenue. $1.3 billion of their revenue was made from Whole Foods, which Amazon acquired in August.

This is the second time Jeff Bezos was announced as the richest man in the world. The first time was three months ago when Amazon’s stock his an all-time high in July. He only held the number one spot for a few hours.

Amazon’s stock may only climb higher as earlier today that they have expressed interest in the pharmaceutical business after acquiring pharmacy licenses in 12 states, much to the Health Care Industries chagrin.
