The signing of Dwyane Wade by the Cleveland Cavaliers initially spelled out a changing role for the previous season's off-guard, J.R. Smith. As Cavs coach Tyronn Lue named D-Wade the starter for the season opener, Smith voiced his frustration about coming off the bench but said that he, Wade, and the rest of the team was working on the transition. Well, J.R. doesn't have to get too acclimated to the 6th man role with the Cavs since D-Wade has expressed his desire to come off the bench to the Cavs coaching staff.

Wade told reporters Monday, "I just decided earlier than later, just to get to a unit I will be more comfortable in—and can probably be better with this team in that lineup," adding "Why wait? Three games in, why wait?"

The move could prove a smart one considering the Cavs injury woes with Derrick Rose now nursing a severely sprained ankle. Moving Wade to the bench could free up some scoring opportunities for Wade who can play more with the ball in his hand with the second unit and J.R. gets to spot up playing back with the starting lineup and LeBron.

What are your thoughts on the move?
