A federal agent recently seized over 6500 pounds of marijuana headed from California to New York City. Nicknamed “Operation Green Giant”, the months' long investigation resulted in the arrest of 10 Bronx natives accused of running the drug ring and shipping the massive amount of weed valued at $22 million. According to authorities, the 10 members of the drug operation would ship the marijuana to various locations across the Bronx, Manhattan in New Rochelle. After the packages were received safely through the mail, they would then be taken to stash houses and eventually sold to the residents of New York City.

In addition to the Marijuana, authorities also found several handguns, a sawed-off shotgun, several rounds of ammunition and cocaine. The multiple search warrants were executed early Wednesday and Thursday morning resulting in the arrests of the ten individuals.

“Yesterday’s arrests were part of 'Operation Green Giant,' a Strike Force investigation targeting an organization allegedly reaping millions off the sale of marijuana in New York City,” according to a DEA Special Agent working the case. The accused drug ring members Are set to see a judge early next week and face life in prison if convicted of the federal drug charges. Stay tuned for updates.
