Redman recently sat down with BET to give his take on Eminem's now famous Hip-Hop Awards cypher and the impact of Em's verse on a social level. According to Red, he believes that everyone criticizing Eminem for the superficial aspects of the verse, mainly his delivery, should cut it out. Redman thinks that Em should be commended for deciding to use his platform to take a stand against injustice and claims that most rappers would've folded if given the same opportunity. He says he's not exempt from that critique either stating that if BET extended the offer to him he would've used the cypher to "black the f*** out."
But Redman stressed the point that the verse had so much impact due to Eminem's race. Red talked about how Em's position as a prominent white figure means he carries a certain level of power and that by deciding to use it to call out injustice is something everyone should respect.
