The legend of the RZA came about in conjunction with the rise of east coast gangsta rap. As Staten Island's very own Wu-Tang Clan rose to prominence in the Big Apple, The RZA became the architect behind the dark and innovative sound. He produced some of the classics that would inevitably define 90s hip-hop and cement the Wu-Tang Clan as one of the greatest rap phenomena of all time. Rza by all accounts was the de facto leader of Wu-Tang Clan producing almost all of their albums in addition to their solo and affiliate projects, including ghost face killer's and Ol' Dirty Bastard's albums.

The RZA has since transitioned into a successful movie career, not only producing but star in in leading roles in major Hollywood movies. He has also worked alongside some of the great actors in recent years, including the likes a Russell Crowe. The visit revolutionized his recording technique specifically by mashing up soul samples to fit the beat; A technique used by many producers today. The RZA recently stopped by Hot97 and joined Funk Master Flex to chop it up and drop off a fire freestyle for the culture. Watch above.
