As a lifetime New York City resident one thing has become clear to me; New Yorkers never root for Boston. This applies to every resident regardless of your interest in sports. Consider it a rivalry that one is born into and nowhere else is that rivalry as strong as it is in baseball. David Ortiz a.k.a. “Big Papi” Spent years terrorizing the New York Yankees during a stretch where he was easily the most clutch hitter in baseball and maybe of all time. In addition to leading the RedSox past the Yankees in one of the greatest comebacks in sports history, Big Papi also ended the dreaded curse that plagued Boston with a championship drought in baseball for over 80 years.
On the flipside, Alex Rodriguez is not only one of the greatest players to ever grace baseball, he is also one of the most controversial. During his prime, Rodriguez put up stats the likes of which baseball had never seen and since his retirement, he has made it a smooth transition as a baseball analyst alongside Ortiz.
