While on ESPN's First Take, Jamie Foxx shed some light on why he thinks the NFL is taking too much of the burden when it comes to social justice.

Host Molly Qerim began the segment by bringing up Michael Bennett stating that conversations about anthem protests shouldn't even be a thing until Colin Kaepernick gets a job in the NFL.

Foxx took it back to the reason why the former 49ers Quarterback started kneeling during the national anthem in the first place-- to protest the killings of unarmed black people by police. Kaepernick started the movement during the 2016 NFL season. Since then, many other players and teams, not only in the NFL but across professional sports have joined in solidarity.

"I still think that's a lot to put on us. When you look at sports. We are still supposed to be having fun with sports. I think the cowards in this are our political leaders who are supposed to be taking up these issues and actually taking a little bit of that off of us. Since they're not, we have to do that. But we have to be proactive in how we talk about the situation first," said Foxx.

Foxx went on to say that the protesting athletes are more courageous than the politicians who are ignoring the country's racial tensions. Host Max Kellerman countered by saying political leaders are actually using it as a divisive issue. Kellerman added that Bennett is taking an excellent stance by sticking up for Kaepernick.
