Michelle Williams was a guest on CBS's "The Talk," where she got into her personal relationship with depression. The former member of Destiny's Child revealed that she has battled with depression since her teenage years.

"For years. I'm in one of the top-selling female groups of all time suffering with depression," said the singer. She said that despite talks with DC's manager Mathew Knowles she continued to struggle and could not articulate what she was going through until she was in her thirties.

"It got really, really bad...to the point of I was suicidal. I was to that place where it got so dark and heavy because sometimes you feel like 'I'm the provider, I take care of people, I'm not supposed to be feeling this way; what do I do?' I wanted out."

Michelle's experience with depression has inspired her to speak out and "normalize this mental health discussion." Williams is not alone, as many artists have been vocal about mental health awareness. Last year, Kid Cudi checked himself into rehab for his depression and suicidal urges, revealing the trauma in a Facebook message to his fans. Logic has a song on his latest project titled around the number of the suicide hotline. Other artists like J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar have also been vocal in their music about their fears and struggles.
